Swine Flu (H1N1)

Advice for Business Owners

Swine Flu (H1N1)

Business owners can prepare for the effects of swine flu by having a business continuity plan in place, which can also be useful in other situation such as fire or flood. Some points to include are:

Discuss with staff how the business will run if it becomes affected by swine flu

If people become symptomatic they should stay at home until they are well.

Give employees information on the symptoms so they know what to look out for in themselves and others.

Arrange a cleaning rota so door handles, desks, telephones etc are cleaned regularly to prevent infection.

Reduce the level of face-to-face interaction.
Establish which part of the business it would be essential to keep running, and work out which members of staff are needed to do this.

Determine which staff could work from home, and ensure technology is there to support it.
